If you grew up in the ’80s or ’90s, you’ll probably discover that your childhood looked remarkably similar to someone else’s — even if you were raised on the other side of the world.

We grew up with Saturday morning cartoons, Tamagotchis, Tetris, magazine posters covering our bedroom walls. Some of these memories are universal, while others will only make sense to those who grew up in post-Soviet countries. These things instantly transport us back to a simpler, pre-smartphone childhood.
