My Top 6 Picks After 10 Years in the Online Dating Industry

There are countless rankings of dating apps online whether — you’re looking for a serious relationship, casual dating, or something in between.

But I wanted to create my own list.

After spending more than 10 years working in the online dating industry — and going through the entire journey of finding my own person — I’ve put together six dating apps and websites that I believe are among the best for finding meaningful relationships.

Of course, no app can guarantee love — it also depends on how you use it.

OKCupid

In my opinion, this is one of the best dating platforms out there.

Why? Because it’s where I met my husband. 😊 (Hi, husband!)

What I love most about OKCupid is its detailed dating profiles, thoughtful compatibility questions, and the match percentage you can see before you even start a conversation. It makes it much easier to understand whether your values and interests truly align.

The downside? It’s not available in every country, and some languages are still missing.

Of course, not everyone joins OKCupid looking for a long-term relationship. But if you’re serious about finding the right person, your chances are definitely there — especially if you take the time to complete your profile.

Tinder

People often say Tinder is only for casual dating. I respectfully disagree. Several of my friends met their spouses there and are now happily married.

Tinder’s biggest advantage is its enormous user base. Whether you’re in a major city or a small town, chances are you’ll find plenty of people nearby.

The downside is that having so many profiles can make it harder to find the right one.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Tinder takes account security seriously and may occasionally suspend users if it detects unusual activity — even when they’ve done nothing wrong.

Not everyone on Tinder is looking for a serious relationship, and many profiles contain very little information. You can only start chatting after you’ve both liked each other.

That said, Tinder is a fantastic option if you’ve just moved to a new country, you’re traveling, or simply want to meet new people.

And sometimes, what starts as a casual conversation turns into a beautiful love story.

Bumble

Bumble offers a calmer and more respectful dating experience. In heterosexual matches, women make the first move. Once you’ve matched, the woman has 24 hours to send the first message before the match expires. In same-sex matches, either person can start the conversation.

I really like this approach because it reduces unwanted messages and gives women more control over who they talk to.

As with any dating app, it’s still important to stay safe — but overall, Bumble feels like one of the friendliest communities for online dating.

Hily

Hily is another great option for people looking for either serious relationships or more casual connections.

The interface is modern and easy to use, and I especially like the interactive questions that help you learn a little about someone before starting a conversation.

Like most swipe-based apps, chatting begins after a mutual match. Hily also offers premium features like Super Likes, allowing you to show extra interest before matching.

Its popularity varies depending on the country, so it’s worth checking how active the app is in your area before signing up.

RusDate / UkrDate

RusDate and UkrDate are sister dating platforms designed primarily for Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking communities.

They’re an excellent choice if you’re looking for someone from Eastern Europe or simply prefer communicating in Russian or Ukrainian. They’re especially popular among immigrants living abroad. At the same time, you’ll also find members from many other countries.

The platforms were built with serious relationships in mind.

Some of my favorite features include detailed profiles, compatibility questionnaires, voice greetings, and a genuinely helpful customer support team.

There are also fun extras like virtual gifts, games, and message filters that make the experience more engaging. The biggest drawbacks are that many premium features require a subscription and user activity varies depending on where you live.

In my experience, the platforms are especially active in Europe, Canada, and the United States.

HER / GayFriendly

These are two excellent dating apps for the LGBTQ+ community.

HER is designed for LGBTQ+ women and non-binary people. It offers a welcoming community, social events, and opportunities to make friends, network, or find a meaningful relationship.

GayFriendly focuses on gay men and transgender users who are looking for long-term relationships rather than casual hookups. The app is built for people who value commitment and hope to build a lasting partnership.

Like many niche dating apps, some features require a paid subscription, and the size of the community depends on your location.
